Chhota Rajan, three others granted seven-year imprison term in fake international ID case

NEW DELHI: A unique court on Tuesday granted seven years in prison to hoodlum Chhota Rajan and other charged in the fake travel permit case.

On Monday, the Patiala House Court had indicted Chhota Rajan, otherwise known as Rajendra Sadashiv Nikhalje, and three government authorities regarding the case.

The court had encircled charges against Rajan and after that international ID officers Jayashree Dattatray Rahate, Deepak Natvarlal Shah and Lalitha Lakshmanan in June a year ago.

Each of the four blamed have been sentenced for offenses under segments 420 (bamboozling), 471 (utilizing as certified a produced record), 468 (fraud for reason for conning), 467 (fabrication of significant security or will), 419 (duping by pantomime) and 120B (criminal intrigue) of the IPC and area 12 (offenses and punishments) of the Passport Act. The CBI in its chargesheet claimed that Chhota Rajan was issued a fake international ID from Bengaluru in 1998-99 in conspiracy with the others.

While the three previous government authorities are out on safeguard, Rajan is in legal guardianship.
