Engineering student drowns in Isha Yoga Centre pool

COIMBATORE: A 21-year-old building understudy from Thiruvannamalai area suffocated in a pool in Isha Yoga Center while washing up there alongside his companions on Friday.

The expired was recognized as M Ramesh, of Kottaikadu close Kannikapuram in Thiruvannamalai. He was a third year BE (affable) understudy of the Ganadipathy Tulsi's Jain Engineering College at Kaniyambadi in Vellore.

Upwards of 35 understudies from the school had gone to Udhagamandalam in the Nilgiris a couple days back. They went to the Isha Yoga Center close Alandurai on Friday morning and a gathering of understudies, including Ramesh, went to wash up in its manufactured pool Suryakund.

Ramesh suffocated in the pool and he was instantly saved and taken to the Ramakrishna Hospital at Avarampalayam, in the wake of giving him emergency treatment at the Isha Yoga Center. Isha Yoga Center specialists asserted that the Suryakund had just 4.5ft water and said there was no way to drown. They speculate that Ramesh may have endured an epileptic assault while washing up and suffocated in the pool.

Donald Trump accuses Barack Obama of 'inflammatory' roadblocks

PALM BEACH: President-elect Donald Trump accused President Barack Obama on Wednesday of throwing up "inflammatory" roadblocks during the transition of power and his administration of treating Israel with "total disdain," further straining the veneer of civility between the incoming and outgoing leaders.

Although Trump didn't detail his complaints in his morning broadsides on Twitter, the president-elect has made it clear that it didn't sit well with him when Obama recently boasted that he would have won the election if he'd been running. Trump's largely respectful tone about Obama since the election evaporated in his latest tweets.

"Doing my best to disregard the many inflammatory President O statements and roadblocks," Trump tweeted. "Thought it was going to be a smooth transition - NOT!"
Trump also took direct issue with the Obama administration's decision to let a UN Security Council resolution critical of Israel pass.

"We cannot continue to let Israel be treated with such total disdain and disrespect," he said in a two-part tweet. "They used to have a great friend in the US, but ... not anymore. The beginning of the end was the horrible Iran deal, and now this (UN)! Stay strong Israel, January 20th is fast approaching!"

Later, however, journalists at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida asked him about the tweet and how he thought the transition was going.

He said: "I think very, very smoothly. It's very good. You don't think so?"

Even later Wednesday , Trump told reporters he had spoken over phone with Obama and said the two "had a very nice conversation."
Trump and his team have until now been largely complimentary of the way Obama and his people have handled the transition. The president-elect's complaints about the treatment of Israel came a few hours before John Kerry was to make his final speech about Mideast peace as secretary of state — remarks that some Israeli officials panned in advance. The administration's decision not to veto the UN resolution aggravated an already strained US-Israel relationship.

No grand alliance in UP? SP rules out tie-up with RLD, to ally only with Congress

LUCKNOW: Hopes of a 'maha gathbandhan' against the BJP in Uttar Pradesh were dashed on Thursday with the Samajwadi Party ruling out any alliance with the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), but asserting a tie-up with the Congress+ .

"We will forge an alliance only with the Congress. We will not ally with the RLD+ . No talks are going on with them (RLD). We will contest from over 300 seats (out of 403)+ and the Congress will be there for the rest of them," SP national vice-president Kironmoy Nanda said.

As regards finalisation of candidates, he said, "SP has finalised its candidates for the first and second phases (of the upcoming polls). Now, it is up to the Congress to decide on their nominees."

Nanda said the details of the seats would be announced by SP national president Akhilesh Yadav.

It's official: Samajwadi Party to field 298 candidates, Congress 105 in alliance for Uttar Pradesh polls

NEW DELHI: The Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress today confirmed they will contest the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls together.

The Samajwadi Party will field 298 candidates, and the Congress 105, the SP's Uttar Pradesh chief Naresh Uttam said at a joint conference in Lucknow.

"For the unity and integrity of India, and following a secular ideology, we will continue our fight under SP National president (and Uttar Pradesh chief minister) Akhilesh Yadav," Naresh Uttam said.

"The country's secular fabric will become stronger when Akhilesh Yadav becomes the chief minister again," he added.

Uttam said the idea was to "uproot" the "communal" BJP, and make Uttar Pradesh a leading state by removing both the BJP and Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party.

Congress Uttar Pradesh unit chief Raj Babbar said his party accepted the SP's offer of 105 seats keeping in mind the prevailing situation in the country, and the atmosphere in Uttar Pradesh.

He explained that the two parties had forged an alliance to thwart the BJP's "divisive politics, and at the same time to boost secularism and promote communal and social harmony."

Donald Trump waxwork replaces Obama at Madame Tussauds London

LONDON: A Donald Trump waxwork has been unveiled at Madame Tussauds museum in London, complete with his signature suntan — and yak hair.

Dressed in a navy suit, white shirt and red tie, the wax figure of Trump was placed yesterday in a mock-up of the White House's Oval Office.

With a United States flag lapel pinned to his suit jacket, the model stands with his hands to his waist and a sombre look on his lined face.

Specialists were brought in to weave yak hair into Trump's scalp, while makeup artists went about creating his suntanned look.
"Since Mr Trump was announced as the victorious candidate in what was a nail-biting and hard-fought campaign for both parties, our studio team have been frantically busy matching his infamous glowing tan and trademark hairstyle in time for the start of his presidential reign," said museum manager Edward Fuller.

Google loses an ads star as Margo Georgiadis moves to Mattel

She left, she returned, and now she’s headed out again.

Mattel announced Tuesday that it had hired Google’s Americas president Margo Georgiadis to lead the toy company as CEO.

Georgiadis, who started working at Google in 2009, was one of the company’s top advertising executives. She was often the top-ranking ad exec at events like YouTube’s Brandcast, where Google tried to persuade big-brand advertisers to move dollars from TV to YouTube.

This isn’t the first time Georgiadis has departed Google. In 2011, she left her role as VP of Global Sales Operations for a stint as COO at deals site Groupon, just before Groupon went public. Five months later, she was back at Google in her current title.

At Mattel, Georgiadis will replace Christopher A. Sinclair, who will serve as executive chairman of the board. Sinclair was tapped to run Mattel, the country’s largest toymaker, in early 2015 to lead a turnaround of the faltering company.

Flagging sales led to the abrupt ouster of its previous CEO, Bryan Stockton, and the quick appointment of Sinclair. Mattel had been looking for a long-term successor as early as November of last year, according to the Wall Street Journal.

"I'm thrilled for Margo and wish her every success at Mattel. She's helped create terrific momentum for our business and under her leadership, we've built incredibly close relationships with our partners across the Americas,” Google Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler said in a statement.
